Parent’s Support

Reading Habit of Children

Parents can help their ward in the following ways:

For Beginners

  • Motivate your child to read. If you find him/her not taking an interest, you can read one or two paragraphs yourself initially.
  • Ask your child to run his/her finger below the words as he/she reads aloud.
  • Point out repetitive words. Ask them to spot these words. Alternate story reading sessions with days when your child narrates the story back to you.
  • Also, get children involved in everyday reading directions, grocery lists, recipes, labels, instructions, manuals and even the billboards and signs along the roads.

For Senior Classes

  • Inculcate the habit of reading the newspaper daily.
  • Play games which require reading and word-building skills such as Spell buzz, Word building, Scrabble, Crosswords etc.
  • Gift story books on special occasions like birthdays, festivals etc.
  • Encourage your child to talk about the books he/she is reading.

Healthy Food Habits

Keeping Your Child Fit and Fine

Just as food for the mind is provided by us – the school and teachers, food for the body which is equally important is provided by the homemaker – the mother. A healthy balanced diet is the mantra of the contemporary times and to help you in this regard, we have some suggestions:

  • Try to give your child a lovingly prepared tiffin.
  • Avoid things like instant noodles, which are neither healthy nor pleasant or acceptable when cold.
  • If you are not using foil, use napkins to prevent food from getting soggy (wet and soft).
  • If your child likes cut fruits, pack them in cling film (plastic wrap). If not, it is best-given whole is washed and wiped dry.
  • Whatever your child is eating should be nutritious, rich in proteins, vitamins etc. as well as being a good source of energy.
